The Best Pilates Studios in Dubai

Our Favourites

Although Pilates is a mammoth trend all over the world, within Dubai it has had a steady upward trend growing slowly over the last eight years from its first appearance in the emirates. Pilates suddenly sprung up in a few exclusive studios in Dubai’s metropolitan areas, now eight years on, it is becoming a staple class in every gym, fitness centre and wellness establishment. As a Pilates lover and teacher trainer, I not only love Pilates but know how beneficial it can be for the overall health of the human body. Pilates is one of those exercise regimes that is amazing for people with lower back pain, injuries and also wanting a great workout. Therefore with such potential to transform peoples lives its important that people know where to go. A teacher, a studio can have such an impact on whether a person likes pilates or not. So if your serious about reaping the rewards then check out our top studio picks. Now we mentioned that you can find Pilates classes in almost every gym in dubai but there are few establishments who’s bread and butter is Pilates. As a dedicated Pilates teaching hundreds of teachers how to become Pilates teachers we are on a mission to investigate the best Dubai has to offer.

Club Stretch – Dubai Marina

You might wonder why a contemporary Pilates school like ALOE is dubbing this classical Pilates school as the best pilates studio in Dubai? Well, aside from the owner (and his somewhat rude approach to teaching) this studio really has it all. It has all the Pilates equipment offering Mat, Tower, Chair and Reformer classes, friendly staff, great pilates teachers (We love Holly), clean facilities and a range of classes for students of any level on a range of equipment. This classical Pilates studio, also doubles as a Bikram/ Hot Yoga studio centrally located in the Marina View Tower in the Marina. Although classical classes can become a bit repetitive, as the sequences never change, there are plenty of exercises and variations in the resistance to give anyone new to Pilates, not only a great workout but a real chance to develop a deeper understanding of the traditional pilates exercises which Joseph invented.

The Pilates Accademy – JLT

This is one of Dubai’s newest studios offering contemporary group classes in a boutique setting, with equipment classes no larger than 3 participants, this studio has all the Pilates equipment from Barrels, Wunda Chairs, Cadillacs and Reformers, so that participants can get a taste of all the Pilates equipment. We love the look of this place with wall to ceiling windows, white upholstery and luscious green plants everywhere. It really gives you the feeling of luxury. Our favourite thing about this studio is the range of classes, at all hours of the day with such a great variety that you will never get bored. Be sure to arrive early as the JLT parking is a nightmare. Don’t be deterred though because once inside you will not be disappointed.  Classes are on the expensive side ranging from 200 AED for one session with 3 people.

Life N One – Jumeriah 1

This little healing haven is a true dubai gem. Nestled in the hideaway streets of Jumeriah 1. You can hang out in the gardens for the day enjoying the deliciously healthy food, practicing yoga, or participating in one of the many healing workshops on offer. With a Pilates reformer room equipped with four reformers and towers, as well as an array of small equipment to make these classes creative and fun. This Pilates centre has a mixture of teachers both from various backgrounds either specialising in classical or contemporary pilates. We love that we can get our fix of both at this centre with four Pilates reformer classes running daily, and more mat classes as well, there is plenty of Pilates to get you going.

Naya Yoga and Pilates –  Motor City

This little studio is nestled in Motor City with one dedicated Yoga/Pilates Mat room and one dedicated Pilates reformer room, equipped with 6 reformer beds. With a wide range of contemporary teachers and classes now available to men and women, there is defiantly something for everyone. Our one recommendation to this studio is to put more classes on the schedule, for those of you reformer fanatics at Naya you will usually find two reformer classes per day at peak times only and one Mat class.

Zen Yoga – Emirates Hills Town Centre

We know zen for being more of a yoga studio rather than a dedicated pilates studio, however this budding premises has a dedicated reformer/ tower pilates room at its
Emirates hills branch. With six machines and both ladies and mens classes this studio provides great reformer workouts for those looking for contemporary pilates class. However with a skeleton schedule it doesn’t have a lot of classes at non peak timings. Something most of the studios around dubai are guilty of.

Exhale Body Fitness

This is one of the first dedicated Pilates studios is Dubai hosting 10 Reformers nestled into this ladies only studio. Offering mostly contemporary Pilates classes this studio has been delivering the best pilates has to offer for the last eight years. The classes here are normally super busy so make sure you book in early. We love the Neuro-pilates classes with Heba, Power Pilates with Pavlina and Kristin’s Friday morning athletic reformer class as well as every class with the loveable Slavica.  The teachers here are super qualified to deal with injuries and restrictions so don’t be afraid to head there if you have some injury or restriction.  Only problem with this studio is the parking! make sure you take extra dirhams, patience and time to beat the JBR traffic. We would love to see this studio upgrade to the new Allegro 2 reformer machines, however don’t let that deter you, the classes are great.

A Tone Fitness – Buisness Bay

This is one of the newest studios to pop up in downtown dubai, specialising in Mat and reformer classes as well as yoga and HIIT. The reformer room has 8 reformers, with teachers instructing contemporary pilates on these machines. Although we are not really into the ‘we are celebrity trainers” branded all over their website, boasting a large list of celebrities I’ve never heard of, if thats your marketing strategy, then fair enough. Rather than a celebrity trainer, an ego and lists, what we really want is a good teacher for us regular folk that will be your bread and butter. WE JUST WANT GOOD TEACHERS!  The problem I found with this “get trained by a celebrity trainer” is that out of the five classes I attended, Yasmina (celebrity trainer) was never there. Hmmm,  However after trying this studio out several times, I can say that although the quality isn’t 10/10 it’s not bad either. and for us everyday people the teachers are good enough to give you the workout that you want. If your living in the Buisness bay area then get to this studio and try it out. Not recommended for people with injuries and restrictions as the teachers are not equipped to handle serious health problems.

Mojo Pilates – Media City

This studio is hidden on the seventh floor of the concord tower in Media City and although the parking sucks and there are only classes running at peak times if you want a strong athletic workout try this place out. What we do love about this studio is the funky view, great colours and the athletic classes on offer. Not so into the microphones and yelling but hey its boot camp pilates so its expected. We would love to see this studio add something other than “cardio reformer’ to their schedule, not cancel classes and include classes for people with injuries and other body concerns. Be sure to try this place if you are super healthy and looking for something athletic. Avoid if you are pregnant or have injuries or restrictions.

This studio is hidden in the backstreets of Umm Sequim directly opposite the Burj Al Arab. Although not entirely dedicated to Pilates it does have four Reformer machines in its upstairs studios and hosts plenty of mat classes in its larger studio. This Villa turned health club for ladies is not only a fitness studio but also offers massage and beauty treatments for those in need of a one stop shop. This studio offers contemporary pilates classes for beginner and intermediate students. It has an athletic approach to classes and great for those looking for a little haven. Staff is super friendly and the place is always welcoming and clean. We love that there is never trouble finding any parking. Reformer classes fill up fast so get booking.

The Hundred Wellness Centre – Jumeriah 1

Since I have had an urge recently to try out new pilates studios, I had to do an extensive research on new (and old) studios that offer different approaches to Pilates, whether it was classical or contemporary. This Pilates studio, wellness centre and expresso lab offers high quality classical classes with great teachers. It seems this place has an entirely holistic approach to health and we love that! Definitely worth visiting and one of our favourites.

Piloga – Buisness Bay

Piloga is another Pilates studio which opened in 2016, with a small room dedicated to Pilates reformer classes. This room contains four classical Fletcher machines, although not currently teaching Fletcher style, it aims to dedicate itself to this classical practice. Many of the ALOE teacher training graduates are teaching at this studio so of course we love the classes. However the room is a little small when the class is fully booked. We would love to see this studio move its machines into the larger pilates room and offer more equipment classes at non peak timings too.

Jacqueline Pilates and Yoga – JLT

Until recently I had never head of this studio, apparently its been open for a while. Hidden within the skyscrapers that are JLT this little studio offers classical pilates classes. Now although jacqueline is a lovely teacher, educated and well versed on Pilates I feel like the little spark is missing. Maybe its just me, but I felt like it was a routine on endless repeat. Now I hate to give bad reviews so I will be getting my butt down there and giving this place another try however for the moment I would say its okay. The Classes are classical pilates similar to club stretch, the studio is a small boutique enterprise so if your looking for small specialised classes where you get extra attention then head here. The studio is a little dark but super clean.
